Intel HD Drivers: (OEM driver is recommended.)ĭownload: AMD_Catalyst_Beta_14_200_0_0_MODDED_REV2.0.exe (231.8 MB) At least the open source one still supports legacy cards. I don't like non-LTS releases, even the LTS one has broken things from time to time (usually at release).Īnd I don't use the proprietary AMD drivers I prefer the open source one.
I said about Ubuntu 16.04 because it's lts and because I hope they will move to Mesa 11.x (using ppas to update to a newer mesa didn't end up always well, totaly broke mate several times and I have no clue why I always fail to compile mesa from sources, didn't really stresses myself much to figure out what is causing the fails).
Atm the pc behind me (i have 2 pc in my room ) ) is running Mint Mate Xfce 17.1 (ubuntu 14.04 lts based). If it doesn't work with them placed there doubt it will work when installing the modded driver (it is posible that other key files have missing code for legacy that can easily get you a bsod as soon as windows try to load it).ĭoubt they changed that much Windows kernel in Win 10.įaking the model how exactly? Something like changing the bios of a HD 4350 and make it report that it's a hd 5450 (because in this case core config is same 80:8:4)? If the architecture diferences are not that big it might work (still it will report dx11 support while that is totaly missing, if it tries to use something specific to dx11 it will not end up well). The 6 files above handle dx9, dx10 (dx11 but it's not the case for legacy cards). This should work at least with dx9 games but it doesn't so clearly they have done something to at least block the use of such files with legacy cards.
exe for a couple of seconds in task manager and it's gone)). exe is located while using legacy gpu results in the game not starting (either the game exe gives an error, black screen and crash to desktop or does basicaly nothing (u have the. Disabling it on Win7 improves performance.Ĭlick to expand.Placing aticfx32.dll, aticf圆4.dll, atidxx32.dll, atidx圆4.dll, atiumd64.dll, atiumdag.dll from non-legacy drivers in the folder where the main game. On >=Win8 there is no simply way to disable DWM.
It is not possible to install AMD drivers without messing with kernel. I've tried Debian at least 3 times, different versions in last years. Debian 'stable' has unstable build in system tools. If I uninstall 3/4 of the build-in software, the system becomes unstable. I have not found any distribution which does not have any pre-installed crappy software. Linux knows better what media player, office suite etc. Win7 has very buggy shrinking taskbar when you place it on the left/right, especially if DWM/Areo is enabled. This OS just fights with users, definitely not user friendly. I don't have plans to come back to 10 as well.
Sure, even if some1 mod them and install on Win10, there may be some issues due to architecture or just driver issues, but at least it should be possible to try.
IMHO too many changes in between 8.1 and 10. It's same BS like saying that driver does not get any performance optimizations for cards older than GCN. Nobody gave any proof of trying = nobody tried. I just don't believe that it is impossible to install any newer driver. Well, but none of you have access to source code, do you? So how do you know? Maybe faking card model/ID/strings could bypass this.
